The Castle of Creixell, in Tarragonès, is a polygonal castle (nine faces) located at the highest part of the town, perched on top of a prominent slope. The oldest parts of the castle date from the end of the 11th century, although most of what we can see is later than the 16th century.

Cal Cabaler is a large wealthy house from the 18th century. As the inscription on the keystone of the entrance portal tells us, it was built in 1783. The Cal Cabaler building is made up of the manor house that gives it its name and the tower that has practically been integrated into the house. This 9'5 m tower. tall and square, it is a military building from the 14th century that over time has lost the battlements that crowned it. Together with the castle and the towers of Ca la Miquelina and Cal Jeroni it formed part of the defensive structure of the town. It served as a refuge for the population in times of danger. It was a safe place where the villagers could lock themselves up and protect themselves behind powerful walls from enemy attacks.

It has its origins in a small Romanesque chapel from the s. XI, of which we have no vestige. According to a preserved document from 1239, we know that the Creixellen church is under the patronage of Sant Jaume. In 1277 it already depended on the Archbishopric of Tarragona.
